"We don’t have the brains and the smarts to match my
church members who are mostly high tech professionals,"
the pastor confided.
"Every morning, we get up and pray for wisdom so we may
know how to conduct ourselves and what to say for the
day."
Indeed, few expected them to succeed in this grossly
mismatched ministry.
Ever feel like God has put you in a place that is totally
beyond you and your ability?
"Is this your joke, God?"
Paul figured out the reasoning behind God’s favorite joke.
Brothers, think of what you were when you were called.
Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many
were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God
chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise;
God chose the weak things of the world to shame the
strong. 1 Cor 1:26-27 (NIV)
God shames the wise and the strong of this world to
make sure that I have nothing to brag. Nothing at all!
If my IQ, talents, charms and persuasive talk alone could
accomplish His work, then, God is pretty lucky to have me
working for Him. He should thank me instead.
Perhaps, it is only when I, at the end of my wits, when I
need to beg Him for wisdom then I could begin to be a
vessel He could use.
