"Something is terribly wrong," I thought.
The car seemed to slow down quickly when I let off the gas.
There was no acceleration.
"What is going on?" Then I realized the red light on the
corner of the dashboard; the parking brake was not released
at all.
Do my spiritual life, church involvement and ministry feel
like there is a brake on?
Apostle Peter must have spoken from his personal experience
when he reminded us:
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with
your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker
partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life,
so that nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 Peter 3:7 (NIV)
It is not a good feeling when our loved ones do not share
our enthusiasm for God.
But, is this hopeless? Not at all. Peter gave us the best
advice. Be considerate, understanding and respecting our
life partners, whether they are believers or not.
Should family ever be sacrificed in the name of ministry?
Never. But, do I pray for my spouse and give thanks for
their support and understanding?
Have I ignored my family and my loved ones with my busy
church involvement?
What would the answer be if I ask, "Do you agree with what
I doing in the Name of God"?
No one builds a good spiritual life on a wrecked family
life.
