Hello everyone from the Macau team,
Everyone has arrived here safely. We have 46 Americans and 3 Filipinos
working in 11 churches. Even though Macau is in China, it is a Special
Administrative Region. That means that travel to mainland China is
restricted even though Macau is a peninsula connected to China by a very very
small (only a few feet) piece of land. Macau has been owned by the
Portuguese for 400 years and was turned back over to the Chinese in 1999.
As a result, Macau is much more prosperous than mainland China. Macau is
only 9 square miles, but has 500,000 people living here. There are only an
estimate of 2,000 Christians with 90 small evangelical churches in the entire
city. (this estimate is by our IMB missionary who lives here full time).
Because of the prosperity and lack of Christian influence, evangelism is very
difficult. The 11 churches we are working with all seem very well prepared,
more than on a normal crusade. They do not all have appointments every day,
but many have group meetings where the Americans and Filipinos can "teach
English" which really means to tell them their testimony and lead them to
Christ. We also have many young people on this crusade and the churches are
using them
to do Soccer and Basketball camps again with the purpose to share the Gospel.
Yesterday was Monday, which was the first day and we had about 50
salvations. This is more than many of the leaders expected for the whole
week.
Please continue to pray that God will continue to bring lost people to
these meetings so our people can share the love of Christ with them.
All of the team members are well and active. The IMB missionaries (Larry and
Sarah Ballew) are very involved and helping daily.
We will keep in touch.

Hey Everyone-
Mom woke me up this morning with a phone call so I thought I'd pass
everything along. She said that everyone is doing great and the Lord is
doing some amazing things in Macau. On Monday, their first full day of work,
among the whole team of 45 people there was 50 salvations- more than expected.
Dad said that there was an international dance festival with dance companies
from around Asia (that's the only ones that he mentioned) that was pretty
amazing.
A little note- they're expecting a typhoon to hit at 8 p.m. our time tonight
(Tuesday). Mom said not to worry- they're expecting it and have been told
how to "weather the storm". They'll be stuck in the hotel until it passes.
Oh yeah- if you're wondering- they have found Diet Coke to drink (it's in the
form of Coke Light). So they're not going through withdrawls.
They both said that everyone is doing great- a little tired but definitely
surviving.
